Julie Pellegrini Partner, CFO

I approach my work with a mindset of “we before me,” always considering what’s best for Turn/River’s investors, our portfolio companies, and the firm. 

At T/R, I oversee financial functions related to our firm and its investment funds. Investors provide the capital, and I put controls in place to safeguard their investment. I get to interact with everyone in our organization, helping design and implement policies that make T/R a fantastic workplace. I also ensure the quality of our financial data to enable all of us at the firm to make sound business decisions. 

Before joining T/R, I spent a decade working across finance, operations, HR, and compliance at Makena Capital Management. I joined the company just a few years after its founding, and during my time there I learned a great deal about building out business functions and implementing new teams, technology, and processes in a fast-growing organization. 

Prior to that, I served as an Assurance Associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where I discovered the importance of data completeness and accuracy as it informs the decisions of investors and leaders in the firm. I joined PwC shortly after earning a degree in psychology from Stanford University, and in many ways it was my undergraduate studies in social and group behavior that first gave me a strong sense of personal responsibility when it comes to thinking critically and making difficult decisions. 

At T/R, we value different perspectives and growth on both the individual and team levels. Everyone is excited and passionate about what they’re doing, and about what the future holds for their team and the company as a whole. 

Some interesting facts about me are that I run a marathon every year, and spent my honeymoon on an eight-day trek to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family hiking, getting ice cream, and riding bikes in Golden Gate Park.
