Kayla Peterson Senior Recruiter

“Recruiting builds a business.”
A company can’t grow and succeed if you don’t have strong recruiting principles. I’m proud that Turn/River values the integrity of the growth we’re scaling, the people we hire, and their impact.
Prior to T/R, I majored in chemistry at UC Santa Cruz. However, I quickly realized working in a laboratory wasn’t for me. I then began my career at Premier Talent Partners, hitting the presidents club twice before moving on to help scale teams at Uber, MasterClass, and Pinterest. At Uber, I successfully hired 72 assistants in a year and a half and built an administrative recruiting playbook for executive leadership. I constructed several business teams at MasterClass, recruiting 100 individuals in 16 months. Across these roles, I assembled teams from the ground up in the finance, legal, information security, people operations, workplace, and administrative spaces and spearheaded diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Seeking a new challenge, I joined T/R to bring the expertise I gained partnering with tech companies to a new industry.
As a senior recruiter, I help internal teams scale and position themselves for the talent market, create functional talent maps that guide leadership, and build strategies to source senior hires. I am typically the first point of contact an individual will have with T/R, so I communicate an authentic employer brand when pitching the company to candidates.
I pride myself on persistence inside and outside the office, once finishing the final nine miles of the 16-mile Spartan World Championship with a blown-out knee. When I’m not running through obstacles or discussing best practices for interviewing, I enjoy discovering new films, reading, or indulging my inner chemist through baking.
