Sealy Laidlaw Vice President, New Business

What I love about Turn/River is that we partner with our portfolio companies every step of the way; we deeply know the business drivers and people, and we work together daily to create exceptional outcomes.

Turn/River is a true growth partner, helping companies with solid foundations reach their full potential. For Turn/River, Operations is more than just a “nice to have” it’s a strategic imperative that begins with diligence and continues throughout each company’s unique lifecycle. I believe that Turn/River’s commitment to operational excellence, analytical rigor, and collaboration with our portfolio companies set it apart from other Private Equity firms and is key to our success.

What I love about Turn/River is that we partner with our portfolio companies every step of the way; we deeply know the business drivers and people, and we work together daily to create exceptional outcomes. In my role, I collaborate with high-caliber executive leadership teams to accelerate new sales and growth. The best and most effective relationships are those where I am an extension of an executive and their team by leading cross-functional initiatives, conducting deeper analysis, and adding extra bandwidth wherever needed.

Before joining Turn/River, I served as the CEO of Zeno Technologies, a data and analytics platform for upstream oil and gas companies. My experience as a CEO gives me a broad view of business objectives and priorities, as well as a deep empathy for the day-to-day tasks and near-term deliverables our executives manage. While Turn/River views the world and each business in terms of funnels – and each of our funnels must deliver independent results – we also need to understand how each funnel fits into the long-term plan for the business. I love that I can go deep in a funnel with a portfolio company counterpart but also put on my CEO hat and look across the business as we evaluate and work on larger strategic initiatives.

Fun fact: I am a former Junior Olympic champion in alpine skiing. I still get out on the mountain as much as possible, although I finally retired my racing boots after college in exchange for something slightly more comfortable. I have two young children, so I have fewer hobbies than I’d like, but I spend as much time as possible outside and being active with them. We love to hike and (electric) bike as a family, and I also enjoy cooking, tennis, and exploring wine country with my husband.
